As believers, there is no better time than “now”, in this New Year, to give our attention to the Word of God; to incline our ear to, submit to, and consent to the Word (Proverbs 4:20). We will delve a little closer into the three concepts of incline, consent, and submit.
INCLINE: feel willing; an attitude, a belief, an action
CONSENT: compliance in or approval; permission for something to happen, or agreement to do something, give permission or yield to
SUBMIT: act or yield to a superior force or to the authority or will of another person
As we begin this transformation and renewal process of the mind according to (Romans 12: 2), it's vital that we understand how we have given place and superiority to our soul (mind, will and emotions) and body that dictates our lives regarding our very existence. By doing so, we are neglecting our spirit man; our recreated spirit is the only means of accessing and maintaining relationship with Father’s Spirit. John 4:24 states, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him, must worship Him in spirit and in truth” (KJB).

You ask, how do I submit and consent to the Word of God regarding my recreated spirit man?
Be willing.
Agree to the Word.
Yield to the authority of the Word.
Your next question: What in the world is a recreated spirit?
The moment you became borne again, you became a new created spirit being.
We are a spirit.
We have a soul
(mind, will and emotion)
We live in a body.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2nd Corinthians 5:17; NSFLB).

Most believers are busy with the demands of society and have put all matters of their human spirit and God is placed last or in a non-existent position in their "needs file". The decision to place God last in one’s life is the beginning of broken fellowship with our Creator. The practice of placing God on the "as needed" list is not good practice, especially, for the ones of us who have been given eternal life through the sacrificial suffering of our Creator’s only begotten Son.
Personally, I know that neglecting our spirit man is in fact neglecting, turning our backs on Father God our Creator. We can only worship God in Spirit and truth. However, if we neglect our spirit, there is no life connection with life Himself, Father God.
Moving forward, our recreated spirit man bears fruit. Galatians 5:22 states, “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. It is imperative that we rid our fruit branches of all societal demands that have taken the place of our Father and Creator.
Proverbs 20:27 states, “The spirit of man [that factor in human personality which proceeds immediately from God] is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts [1 Cor. 2].

I leave you with this thought: My spirit is a lamp in need of a new bulb. With a new bulb supplied by Father God, my spirit is now a bright light; a healthy branch bearing the fruit of spiritual light turned on by God, connected to God who created me.
